Market

Here are various things that you can find in average street market here in Taiwan

Black and white chickens next to each other

Grilled buns

Found at your local 7-11

Various braised meats

Fresh Seafood. The fish was still moving

Day one

So after a 12 hr flight out of SFO to TPE, landed at 5:30AM and out of customs and immigration and all that jazz by 6:20 AM. I see a familiar face that is my second uncle. After we get the luggage onto his car first thing he says is "Do you feel like breakfast?" "But of course I say!" So off to breakfast we go.

Sweet Iced soy milk and egg crepe

After breakfast my second uncle drops me off at my big uncles house I hang out there with my cousins and aunt. We go to the market there and check out some stuff while drink Boba, of course. Then onto Lunch around 1 ish. We went to get Taiwan's national dish Beef Noodle soup. Apparently in Taiwan it is considered rude to take a food picture of them preparing the food without asking first...oops. I got yelled at by the employees for taking the crepe shots without asking first.

Various side dishes

Crepes all lined up and ready to go

Cooking of the crepes

Crepe with Hoisin and Scallions

Beef roll with crepe, hoisin, and green onion

And the reason we where there Beef Noodle soup. I got the clear broth because it is harder to find in the States

T-3 Days

So here we are T minus 3 days till I'm off to an exciting new adventure in Taiwan, to learn how to make some yummy treats.

I'm really excited about it but also nervous cuz I don't know if I've got the skills to keep up or follow along. Plus the books are all going to be in Chinese and I have a confession...I can't read Chinese. So lots and lots of notes I'll take.

I also am excited to see my family that live in Taiwan. It's been 5 years since I've been there.
